Welcome
My name is Anna Mei Gubbins, and I am a passionate participant in the the fields of International Education and Student Development!
I focus on research that explores questions about how we can create individualized programs in higher education that help students, faculty, staff, and alumni truly feel that they belong in their educational community. I want to continue to design programs and organize systems so that everyone, with their multiple, complex, and intersecting identities, can feel as if they can bring their full and authentic selves to the community and be welcomed, included, and celebrated. I am committed to helping facilitate belonging from the individual to the institutional level, so that everyone may thrive and become empowered to contribute to a better global community by engaging fully and supporting one another.
I also believe that in our ever-more connected world, it is imperative that we actively engage with our global community to become more globally competent, seek ways to understand and have empathy for one another, and advocate for diversity, equity, access, and inclusion initiatives.
My learning, teaching, and advising principles are based in the power of asking exploratory questions, listening actively, thinking critically, reflecting purposefully, and supporting each unique individual wholly.
"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
